Senior city figures have hailed a fall in Nottingham crime – Police recorded 44,103 offences for 12mths up until Aug 31st this year – a 26.1% drop on the 59.663 registered in the 12mths up until March 31, 2007.

Nottingham still has one the highest crime rates, but police officials say its falling faster then other similar city’s – Nottingham police stated that the decrease was directly influenced by their efforts to tackle burglary and vehicle crime. Nottingham police and there partnership with Neighbourhood Watch and  burglary prevention schemes like LockSmarts HomeSmart  actively raise awareness so that a bigger effort is made to increase security making homes and property a much harder target to thief’s.
